چکیده

Occurrence of the αS1-casein D allele (formerly "welsh" variant) in sheep breeds Tsigai, Improved Valachian and Slovak Merino was investigated by means of isoelectric focusing in ultra thin polyacrylamide gel. This variant in herds of the above mentioned breeds was observed as follows: Improved Valachian 3.64%; Tsigai 5.57%; Slovak Merino 12.45%. In the last mentioned breed in a single animal αS1-casein was not found at all (0.34% of the total). There is no mention of existence of null allele of sheep αS1-casein in literature so far. In case of the Tsigai breed in one individual (0.24%) the "welsh" variant in homozygous form was observed.

Kappa-casein Genotypic Frequencies in Russian Breeds Black and Red Pied Cattle

Casein is a family of milk proteins that exists in several molecular forms and is the main protein present inthe bovine milk. The B variant of bovine k-casein is reported to be favorable for quality and quantity of cheese derived from milk and considered to be included in breeding strategies of dairy cattle. Genotypes of72 Russian Black Pied and 80 Red Pied cows were determined for ...

Preliminary report on β-casein gene Met183QVal183 polymorphism in Romanian indigenous Zackel sheep breeds.

Genetic polymorphisms of the milk protein genes are important because of their effects on quantitative traits and technological properties of milk manufacturing. In the present study we identified the polymorphism of the beta-casein gene in two local sheep breeds (Racka n=98 and Turcana n=111) in Romania. The most studied variants at the ovine beta-casein (CSN2) locus are: A and G variants. Gen...

Identification of the CSN1S1 allele in Indian goats by the PCR-RFLP method.

The allelic distributions of the CSN1S1 (αs1-casein) in the Indian goats are quite different from European goat breeds. Majority of Indian goat breeds and non-descript goats carry A, B, E and F alleles at αs1-casein locus, as found by analysing both DNA and protein levels. However, A and B alleles, known to be associated with better casein yield, were observed in the highest proportion in all t...
